Our mission
Since February 2022, crossing the Ukrainian border has become more complex: martial law, new customs procedures, flight restrictions, insurance specifics that most European travel policies stopped covering. We saw potential visitors to Ukraine — business travellers, journalists, humanitarian workers, returning diaspora — getting lost in fragmented and often outdated information.
UkraineBorder.com fills this gap:
- Informational content about border crossings, customs, safety, residence — practical, documented, continuously updated;
- Access to insurance with war-risk coverage through a licensed Ukrainian insurer — for those who need coverage that works inside Ukraine (most international policies exclude Ukraine under "war and terrorism" clauses).
We don't lobby travel to Ukraine — we help those who have already decided to navigate the procedures.

How we operate
Informational content (articles under Border Crossings, Customs, Safety) is written drawing on:
- Official Ukrainian sources — State Border Guard Service, MFA Ukraine, Ministry of Health, State Customs Service, Cabinet of Ministers, statutory acts.
- Cross-perspective travel advisories from major foreign ministries (UK FCDO, US State Department, Auswärtiges Amt, France diplomatie, MOFA Japan, MSZ Poland, KKM Hungary, MZV ČR/SR).
- Authoritative international sources — Vienna Convention, Hague Apostille Convention, EU-Ukraine Association Agreement.
Content is written using AI assistance (generation and first-pass editing) under editorial oversight by the operator. We disclose AI involvement clearly to comply with the EU AI Act Article 50 transparency requirements for general-purpose AI deployments. Details at Editorial Standards. All publications pass a human review gate before going live.
Commercial functions (insurance products, access to quotes) are a separate function integrated with the main site via a specifically labelled commercial bridge. Details at Affiliate Disclosure and Insurance Partner.
Data protection (GDPR + UA Law)
LLC «WELCOME TO UKRAINE» is the data controller under:
- The Ukrainian Law «On Personal Data Protection» (for all site users).
- Regulation (EU) 2016/679 GDPR — for users from the European Union.
- Equivalent frameworks — UK GDPR, PIPEDA Canada, Privacy Act Australia, APPI Japan, LGPD Brazil, etc.
We process the minimum data necessary:
- Browser data (cookies, IP, locale preference) — by consent.
- Email enquiries — to answer questions.
- Insurance purchase data (passport, contact) — transferred to the insurer for policy issuance (Phase 6 functionality).
Details at Privacy Policy (pre-launch).
Commercial relationships — short overview
UkraineBorder.com is an integrated operation — informational content and commercial channel operate within a single legal entity:
- Informational content — free access for all users; no abusive advertising, pop-ups, or dark patterns.
- Insurance intermediation — on the quote page we offer a product from our partner insurer (PJSC «IC EUROINS UKRAINE»). We earn a commission on sold policies. Commission terms and relationship details at Affiliate Disclosure.
- Editorial independence — informational content in B/C/D clusters is written without influence from commercial interests. Conflict-of-interest concerns are addressed through cluster isolation: informational content contains no product-specific endorsements; insurance offers appear via a separately labelled bridge.
Languages and accessibility
UkraineBorder.com operates in 10 languages:
- Ukrainian (uk), English (en) — primary working language for content creation.
- Spanish (es), German (de), French (fr), Arabic (ar), Japanese (ja), Polish (pl), Hungarian (hu), Czech (cs).
Each locale has a full version of every published article, with locale-aware blocks (per-passport, per-jurisdiction, per-market regulatory framing). The Arabic version uses RTL (right-to-left) layout.
Accessibility: we target WCAG 2.1 AA on all pages. Feedback about accessibility issues at Contact.
How often we update content
Information about border crossings, customs procedures, and insurance changes frequently, especially in wartime. Our policy:
- Critical-impact changes (new border restrictions, customs code amendments, Cabinet of Ministers resolutions) — update within 1-3 working days of an official announcement.
- Standard updates — monthly sweep of all articles; review of fresh sources.
- Major content review — quarterly refresh of each content category.
Details and change log at Revision Policy.
What we don't do
For transparency:
- We don't provide individual medical, legal, or immigration advice — our content is general-information. For specific cases, consult accredited specialists.
- We have no governmental status — we are a private information resource. Our content is not official government guidance.
- We don't publish content that promotes unsafe actions (frontline routes, crossings through military zones, etc.). Our focus is on helping with safe and legitimate operations.
- We don't sell user data. Your data stays with us and our insurance partner if you purchase a policy.
