What we do not treat as authoritative
Transparently:
- Social media (X, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn) — even official accounts of state authorities are cited only when they link to the original regulatory act.
- Telegram channels — including major news outlets, because information is often posted raw without clear attribution.
- Forums and community boards (Reddit r/Ukraine, expat forums) — useful for understanding user experience, not for facts.
- Aggregator sites for travel reviews — biased through user-generated content.
- News outlets without attribution — if an article cites «a source at the Cabinet» without linking to the act, we go and find the act.
- YouTube, podcasts — useful for narrative context, not for facts.
Verification standard details — Editorial standards § Source hierarchy.
Localisation
The site's 10 locales are calibrated to the reader's home-market specifics. In articles about cross-border travel, GDPR rights, and consumer protection, we add references to:
- EU locales (de, fr, es, pl, hu, cs) — national DPAs, national travel advisories of your country, EU-level coordination EDPB / EIOPA / ECC-Net.
- AR locales — UAE Data Office, SAMA, Egypt FRA, ACAPS Morocco, INPDP Tunisia, JO/QA/BH/KW/OM consumer protection.
- JA locale — JFSA, SOLLAC, National Consumer Affairs Centre, Consumer Affairs Agency, PPC.
- EN locale — primarily UK-resident-aware (FCO, FCA, ICO); EU/US/AU/CA fallbacks where relevant.
Full per-locale regulator list — Contact § Localised channels.
How we verify currency
Each Tier 1 / Tier 3 act is cited with a link and an effective date at the time of citation. For dynamic lists (territorial exclusion list, border crossing list, currency limits), we mark «verified at YYYY-MM-DD» and re-verify according to triggers from the Revision policy.
If you find an outdated link — write to editor@ukraineborder.com with a link to the article; we'll fix it within 5 business days.
